About

An independent project, with its sources written down.

Shed Planner is built and maintained by one developer, Alex. It collects published figures from US retailers and manufacturers, records where each number came from and when it was checked, and turns them into calculators you run on your own measurements.

What I am not

I am not an architect, a contractor, a builder, or a permit authority. Nothing here is a structural design, an engineering opinion, a quote, or approval to build. Where an answer depends on your address, your soil, your local code, or a specific product, this site says so and points you at the body that actually decides it.

That boundary is deliberate. A shed planning site that invents setback distances or quotes a national price per square foot is more confident than the evidence allows, and the person who pays for that confidence is the homeowner.

Where the numbers come from

Price figures come from public US retailer and manufacturer pages — mostly The Home Depot and Lowe's, with scope details from manufacturers such as Tuff Shed and Heartland. Each observation is stored with its source URL, the date it was checked, the build path it belongs to, and what the price does and does not include.

Prices are collected without selecting a store or entering a ZIP code, so they stay comparable with each other. That also means they are not your local price. A store-specific or delivered price can differ, and this site never claims otherwise.

Product dimensions — door openings, interior sizes, mower and bike measurements — come from manufacturer documentation, cited on the page that uses them. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the page records it as unknown instead of estimating it.

How often figures are rechecked

Price evidence has a freshness window built into the site, not just into a habit. A snapshot counts as fresh for 14 days and is treated as expired after 45 days. Past that point the planner labels the figures as historical rather than current, and the repository's own content checks fail until a new snapshot is collected and published.

Every page that shows a price also shows the date it was checked. If that date looks old to you, it is old — trust the date over the number.

What is here

Guides for the decisions that come before a product search: size, door openings, placement, build path, and cost scope. Two calculators — shed size and gravel for a base — and a Planner that keeps your figures together. Your project stays in your own browser; the privacy policy lists every stored value.

Commercial links

Retailer links are evidence for the figures shown beside them. There is no affiliate relationship behind them today, and the affiliate disclosure explains what would change — and what would not — if that ever starts.
