Method

What the calculator does

It adds the extension to both sides of each reference dimension, multiplies resulting length × width × depth, converts cubic feet to cubic yards, applies your order factor, then rounds up to the next 0.25 cubic yard.

((length + 2 × extension) × (width + 2 × extension) × depth ÷ 12) ÷ 27

Worked example

10 × 12 ft reference, 4 in depth

With no extension, the geometric volume is 40 ft³ (1.4815 yd³). A 1.10 factor produces 1.6296 yd³, rounded up to 1.75 yd³ for the planning order quantity.
